

HEADACHE
Headache is a very common condition that causes pain and discomfort in the head,scalp,neck and face.
Headaches include migraine,tension headache,cluster headache,sinus headache.
MIGRAINE
Migraine headache is usually unilateral which can be mild, moderate and severe and usually relieved by vomiting.
Treatment of migraine headache include analgesics,antiemetics,adequate hydration and avoiding precipitating factors like stress, lack of sleep or jet lag, hunger, dehydration, alcohol, few foods, caffeine, medication overuse, smell, light, sound, physical activity.
TENSION HEADACHE
Tension headache is most common and it usually causes pain over forehead area.
Treatment of tension headache include analgesics and avoiding stress(meditation,yoga etc)
SINUS HEADACHE
These headaches occur due to sinus infections .It is associated with sinusitis like maxillary, ethmoid and sphenoid sinusitis. Associated symptoms of sinus headache include common cold, allergies, nasal polyps, deviated nasal septum.
Investigations include X-rays,CTPNS,nasal endoscopy.
Treatment of sinusitis include
Apply a warm compress to painful areas of face.
Use of decongestant to reduce sinus swelling and allow mucus to drain.
Nasal spray or drops to thin mucus.
Steam inhalation to relieve sinus congestion.
Treatment of sinus headaches include
Antibiotics
Antihistamines to prevent allergy
Decongestants to reduce swelling in the nose and sinuses.
Analgesics for headache.
Steroids to reduce inflammation.
HORMONAL HEADACHE
Hormonal headaches are usually associated with low estrogen concentration with beginning of menstrual cycle.
Treatment includes adequate hydration,lie down in a dark,quietroom,place an ice bag or cold cloth on your head,perform deep breathing or other relaxation exercises.
